Whittle Doodles are doodling with a knife in a block of wood to carve a variety of subjects and themes as a demonstration of carvings done using only a knife. Whimsical in nature and yet a way to illustrate the art and practice of carving in a small and restricted area.
The two inch by three inch block of wood is embellished on the four sides and top of the block.
Doodling with a knife allows for imagination to take the carver into the adventure of creativity with a serendipity result. The knives used are called “Other Knives” that are made by the Wood Bee Carver for personal use.
Doodling is always a leisurely distraction that allows imagination free rein to go where it leads and what better way to do creative exploration during 2020 than Doodling with a carving knife. “Would be carvers would be carvers if they would carve wood.” ~ “Keep carving and carving will keep you carving.” ~ “The more one carves the better one carves.” ~ “CARVE DIEM” (which means “Carve the Day”)
