Fred Cogelow receives Best of Show honors for his carving of a young lad sitting on a log while reading a book. Fred was also one of the instructors during Congress week of seminars.
Adina Denton Huckins received First Runner-up honors for her “Fresh Air” carving of a young woman carved in a hollow catalpa log. Adina also received ribbons for other entries of which her girl with guitar is an example.
“Iberian Stallion” is the title of Second Runner-up honor given to Elynne Chudnovsky. Each of these Best of Show carvings were joined by over four hundred ninety other top notch carvings in numerous categories and classes. Only a few of those carvings will be presented in this photo report, but be assured that all were winners just for being entered in this prestigious show.
“Peoples Choice” honor was given to the hawk ready to capture a rabbit who still has a chance of escape. Another hawk perched on the handle of a hatchet embedded in a fence post sits proudly on display. Bird and fish carvings were very popular as was the full gambit of carving subjects. Only a few will be presented in this posting.
While these photographs are only a small representation of the wonderful carvings at the International Congress Show, yet they offer a standing invitation to all carvers to consider entering carving in this renown competition and visit next years show.
