In photo # 5 quarters are used to position a lay out for where the 23 holes will be outlined with a pencil drawn around each quarter on the underneath side of the lid. When all the circles have been drawn then each circle is cut using a 3/4 inch # 7 gouge in a slicing action as the gouge is guided around the circled pencil line.
